London-based Congolese artist Nkisi fuses worlds to create new realities: her work complicates the immediacy of UK hardcore and gabber with traditional Congolese rhythms, and African cosmological thought from the Bantu-Kongo tradition. Shanghainese Sino-futurist 33EMYBW pushes music beyond the human frame of reference; with live AV performance in collaboration with Gooooose they deploy game engine graphics, traversing coded realities. DJ Plead’s polyrhythms merge Lebanese-via-Western-Sydney wedding anthems with high energy bass and percussion. Makeda’s post-capitalist futures swirl through hardcore, jungle and folk traditions at the intersection of her British and Caribbean heritage.
