Liquid Architecture presents enigmatic Finnish performer Islaja on her first Australian tour. Islaja was a signal figure in the free-noise-folk moment of the mid 2000′s that made everyone want to move to Finland, as a solo performer and member of Avarus and Kemialliset Ystävät. Since moving to Berlin a few years ago and releasing an incredible solo LP on Monika-Enterprise, Islaja has emerged as a compellingly peculiar artist with an impossible to classify sound and style. Wikipedia says Björk, Syd Barrett, and Nico but we say … nah, don’t be silly. Come hear her for yourself as part of this dream lineup.
Islaja [FIN] = brilliant Finish experimental musician with numerous releases on Fonal Record, Ecstatic Peace, Root Strata and Monika Enterprise.
Jasmine Guffond [Berlin/AUS] = Sensitive microscopic studies and electro acoustic zones by Berlin-based artist known for her duo Minit (with Torben Tilly) and solo releases on Sigma Editions, Staubgold, Dual Plover and Monika Enterprise.
Half High = Damaged ambient collaboration of artists Lucy Phelan (AKA techno-maven Lucy Cliche) and Matthew P. Hopkins. Alien and industrial, tranquil and mesmerising.
Francis Plagne / Hanna Chetwin = New collaboration between experimental musician and songwriter Plagne, who’s lovely LP Funeral Mutes has just been released, and 16mm film artist Hanna Chetwin, one of the leading members of Melbourne’s Artist Film Workshop.
