‘Fascism and the International’ Project / Workshop No. 2 - PROGRAM
This – the second of two workshops presented by the ‘Fascism and the International’ Project – brings together a group of radical scholars, artists and activists working across the fields of law, history, history of art, sociology, anthropology, sound studies, critical theory and beyond. By means of a self-conscious and sustained juxtaposition of the normative and the aesthetic – of law against art – the workshop’s aim is to develop new ways of getting at the past and present of fascism, and more effective strategies for resisting the violent, discriminatory and totalitarian order that fascism seeks to consolidate.
Speakers include composer, performer and musicologist Luciano Chessa, art historian Mark Antliff and critical scholars of international law Anne Orford, Gregor Noll and Martti Koskenniemi, with topics ranging from Futurism to Fashwave, from Nazi motherhood to ‘computational eugenics’, and from Lusotropicalismo in Brazil to the fascist inflections of colonialism and anti-Communism in Indonesia, Dominica and elsewhere.
These events are open to members of the public who share its commitment to a politics of counter-fascism.
