An evening of radical sound works occupying the galleries, screening room and courtyard of the IMA.
Italian artist Alessandro Bosetti will perform in the slippage between information and pure sound in speech – the point at which language becomes music, and at which music becomes a language with his work Mask Mirror, in which he uses a synthesiser to manipulate spoken word samples from field research, interviews, conversations and soliloquies to develop elaborate, evolving abstract live compositions.
One-man-category-non-conformist Maine, USA experimental performer i dm thffftt able will stage a series of deeply singular experimental music performances primarily using vocals (grunts, screams, tongueclicks, gurgling, chanting) in combination with sounds summoned from a mostly jerryrigged arsenal of amplified and unamplified objects, bent circuits, homebuilt keyboards and modified tape machines.
Melbourne artist Emile Zile will detourn everyday social media and search tools in a dynamic live performance that offer new perspectives on these readytohand tools, and the subtle ways these might condition contemporary experience.
Sydney-based artist Bianca Hester, appearing in Brisbane for the first time, will perform her sculptural intervention, Sonic Alterations of Constructed Space With Metal Objects, in the IMA courtyard.
