cephaloPOD Reading and Learning
190 Young Street
Fitzroy, VIC
In this reading group event, we will consider the cuttlefish. Recent years have seen zoology joined by psychology and philosophy in the human exploration of cephalopod life. We will read and discuss texts about this creature, its history, habits and habitat, with a focus on Sepia Apama, the Giant Cuttlefish, and its mysterious annual aggregation in Pt Lowly, near Whyalla, South Australia, as we explore questions about non-human signalling, tactical shape-shifting and sensory biology.
This event will also involve expressions of interest for the inauguration of the Seaweed Appreciation Society, chaired by Lichen Kelp.
