New York based, South Korean artist Okkyung Lee will operate in various spaces throughout the Gertrude Contemporary building including hallways, doorways and artists’ studios.
The event will take the form of a non-explosion which anticipates the shock to come for audiences who have been trained to expect the twist.
Okkyung considers ‘Singing In The Rain’ to be the most important movie of all time. She watched selected excerpts from the film at low resolution through the Qantas in-flight entertainment system from New York to Sydney. She was mouthing the words silently. We are sitting in the stairwell discussing the plan. There will be no Q and A.
