The nom de plume of Newcastle, UK artist Stephen Bishop, Basic House is one of the most interesting electronic music producers working today. His music is defined by a combination of a pure and primal aesthetic, and a precise attention to sound design, proceeding in broken, crackling dispatches at once danceable and beautifully abstract. Stephen is also the founder of the cassette label Opal Tapes label, which has been a major influence on contemporary DIY electronic music.
