Operant

An exposition of gender, body morphology and the body's ability to be altered through violent reconstruction. Psychic and psychological manipulation enters a crushed, robotic transcendence, where mortal wounds become gateways to other spaces. Voice, synths and field recordings meld into rhythmic, ritualistic schism. OPERANT is the Berlin-based duality of Luna Vassarotti and August Skipper, who together run the implacable label Instruments of Discipline. Their live shows are a collision between bodies and machines, encompassing gestural noise, mic'd metal fragments, synths, drum machines and twofold vocals distorted to the point of surreality.
