Mitch Boney
Mitchell Boney is a Kamilaroi, Kooma Merri Wurri man, known as Warrabaa, meaning Saw-neck turtle in Gamilaraay. Born and raised in Bourke, New South Wales, in the place of the Namoi and Barwon Rivers that stretch out to the artisan basin. Warrabaa first started dancing as a child, self taught with the never ending thirst to keep his cultures’ fire burning.
His people hold A well known ‘Dreaming’ story with celestial connections to the story of the ‘Emu in the Sky’.
He is a cultural dancer with styles of contemporary hiphop and traditional dance with the earthy tones from the yidaki. Sharing his story within this concrete bushland (Melbourne), he is part of a group called Culture Evolves.
Mitch is practicing traditional fire making and Yidaki healings at Festivals and teaching cultural awareness and dance workshops with schools all over Victoria.
