Angie Abdilla

Angie Abdilla is a Palawa woman who has been living and working in Sydney for over 15 years. She founded Old Ways, New in 2016, where she applies Indigenous cultural knowledges to inform placemaking, strategic design and deep technologies for both the public and private sectors, with a strong focus on R&D. She is a Fellow of The Ethics Centre and an Advisory Board member of the CSIRO Indigenous STEM Academy. She has presented her published research on Indigenous Knowledge Systems, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues and co-founded the pioneering international Indigenous Protocols and Artificial Intelligence symposium (IP AI). Within academia, she is a specialist in futuring methodologies, human/technology inter-relations and user experience and interaction design. Angie works among a wide network of connections with Traditional Custodians, Elders and Knowledge Specialists, bringing this diverse range of Indigenous perspectives to projects.
